How can I get in touch with Marian?
Hi! It's me, Marian. E-mail is the best way to reach me or one of my helpers. Write to mcminion42@gmail.com.

You can also find me on Twitter, Facebook, G+, Flickr, Wordpress, and Youtube. You can address snail mail to Marian Call at PO Box 190926, Anchorage, AK 99519 (if you want to send a package please check in first). But if you want to talk business or logistics, e-mail is the way to go -- Facebook messages and Twitter DM's sometimes get lost in the shuffle.
Where can I find lyrics and liner notes for the music?
Links are here! View the Something Fierce album art here and find the lyrics as text here.

You can also find lyrics and notes on Got to Fly and Vanillaon my blog. Lyrics for other singles are probably coming someday, pester me if you want them.
Does it make a difference where I purchase your music?
Yes, it does, and I try to give you plenty of good options. If you buy from Bandcamp...
more
you are buying straight from me, and you can either get physical CD's or high-quality audio in many different formats (even Ogg Vorbis! Audiophiles rejoice!). Amazon is a great place to buy the CD's if you're a regular customer there, because it causes Amazon to recommend my CD to more people -- and I can always use more reviews! CDBaby is a great company and I like it when you buy from them. iTunes, Zune, Spotify, Napster, and any other vendor is also fine, though I get less revenue from those transactions -- I really think you should have plenty of choices. If you want to do me a favor though, buy from one of my preferred vendors, leave a review, and then tell a few friends or share some tracks with them for free! I like it when you pass the music along.
I want to be Marian's best fan ever and do nice things for her. Where do I start?
I'm so glad you asked. Awesome things that awesome fans do:
more
be on the e-mail list, connect on Facebook, chat back and forth on Twitter, leave a review at Amazon and iTunes, keep pestering your friends to listen to the music until they do, write a blog post, come to a show, propose a location for a show, host a house concert or a venue concert at a little shop you love, forward a Facebook event to people you know in that area, buy a T-shirt or tote bag, send questions on Formspring, have a look at Flickr, let me know what local radio station or media outlet I should be courting, volunteer to be a minion at a show, join the Donors' Circle at the $200 level or above (you can do it in $20 installments if you like!). And -- best of all -- be yourself, be empowered, sing loud in the car, make art with crayons or leaves and glue, be good to strangers, and rhyme just a little more often.
How can I get Marian to come play a concert in my town?
I tour lots and lots, the majority of every year, and I would love to come play for you.
more
But of course I can't get everywhere I'd like, and I certainly can't get everywhere as often as I'd like. Get on the e-mail list -- I often alert folks there as to where I'll be touring soon, e.g. "Soon I'll be in the Midwest and then BC and then Texas!" long before I book real show dates. If you see your region coming up, write me and tell me where you want a show! If you don't see your region coming up, heck, write me anyway and let me know you're out there, no matter where in the world. The fans that stay engaged are the fans that get shows in their backyards. Tell me where to play in your town, and be willing to answer a few of my questions about how to manage it. Also: fans that offer house concerts along my tour route get what they want about 80% of the time.
In the end I always have to disappoint a few people or put things off, and for that I am terribly terribly sorry. I do my best and push myself hard for you guys. I hope you'll check out some of the many many free concert videos I've posted online, all around the web and on Youtube. In the virtual world you can hit a concert anytime!
How do I host a house concert?
I've written lots about that in my blog here!
Hey Marian, what about Europe?
Very good question. I have tried three times to get planning underway for Europe, however...
more
the financial risks and logistics have just been WAY too daunting each and every time. Without a label or manager to book the shows, and without much cash in pocket to pay for initial expenses, I just haven't had the time or money on the horizon. So I truly apologize for keeping you waiting, and I especially apologize for promising too early what it turned out I couldn't deliver so early -- I'm sorry plans have been falling through. But Europe is still a primary target in my mind, and I have come up with a fundraising/tour planning method that should kick the obstacles in the derriere. Stay tuned for more plans -- that means sign up on the e-mail list and tell me where you are, so I know where to play!
Are there charts or scores of Marian Call songs? Can I cover them?
Sorry, no charts with chords or transcriptions are officially published by me, just lyrics. But... more
you are welcome to cover a Marian Call song if you like! I don't like to publish charts at this point because I believe in good ear training, and in collaborating with friends or teachers to figure out the music. But if you wind up with some of the wrong chords, that is absolutely OK -- make the songs your own, don't try to do them exactly like me. If you just want to play the song for friends or put a copy up for free on the internet, no need to write me for permission, you have permission!
If you plan to make money in any way on your cover of my song (i.e. selling it on a CD or the web, or posting a video that generates ad revenue), or if you plan to use it in a high-profile environment for a cause (i.e. a political campaign or in an advertising context), then we need to talk. We'll work out a simple license & contract over e-mail if we need to.
Do check to be sure you're not covering a cover song, so as to attribute the work properly! Some Marian Call songs are covers (list below).
One exception to the charts rule: if you are a choral type, you can purchase the score of the self-published piece "Ave Maria" by e-mailing Marian.)

Tell me more about the Donors' Circle!
You can read all about that right here. The Donors' Circle helps keep me afloat more
through the challenges of being a full-time artist deep in debt. They funded Something Fierce and they get first listens to things, as well as many other special privileges. The threshold to join is low -- $200, which many folks paid in several affordable installments. If you're interested, read more or write Marian and ask for more information about joining the Donors' Circle!
